Recently I was working some owyhee blue opal and after soaking off the Dopps overnight in acetone a few of the 18 cabs had strongly visible whitish and what I am assuming were hydrophane marks on the opals, and a circle where the nail dopp was glued on that remained clear. I am assuming due to sealing the opal from the water drawing effect of the acetone.
Whats a good method of A)either removing the dopp without acetone, or B) using a non heat dopp method other than super glue?
Any help will be apprecited.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
